Rauf distributes relief goods among 2,000 people

Karachi (31-Aug-2010): (Staff Writer) Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Rauf Siddiqui visited a tent city, field hospitals and other places in kandhkot.

He distributed relief goods among 2,000 floods affected there and expressed sympathies with the people hit by raging floods.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said he had already distributed Rs.250/-million relief goods among the flood affected people in Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa on behalf of Khidmat-e- Khaliq Foundation.

Rauf Siddiqui sent buffalo and Announce Rs.1,500 allowance to  healthy children of Muzaffarabad

Karachi (31-Aug-2010): (PRO SITE) Minister Commerce and Industries Sindh Mr. Rauf Siddiqui sent one Buffalo to the healthy children of Muzaffarabad  (Rajanpur area). Both of children was facing trouble due to lost their buffalo in flood water. Father of the children Mr. Wali Muhammad told to the media that his 6 and 7 years old children feeds 10kg milk Daily and their weight is around 75 and 95kg, but after the disaster of floods I have lost my Buffalo in flood water therefore my children are suffering of milk. After the news on Private TV channel Minister Commerce and Industries Sindh Mr. Rauf Siddiqui sent one Buffalo to the healthy children on humanitarian grounds and announce Rs. 1500 allowance per month. He also announced to give job both Children in his Ministry in the age of 18 years. Father of the children Mr. Wali Muhammad thanks to the Mr. Rauf Siddiqui for his generousness.

Karachi (17-Aug-2010): (PRO SITE) Sindh Minister for Commerce and Industries Muhammad Rauf Siddiqui said world aid is insufficient for flood effected, urging philanthropists and overseas Pakistanis to come forward to cope with the challenge otherwise the country would face huge crisis.

Addressing a press conference at his office on Tuesday he said Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation has donated Rs.15 million while Industry and Commerce Minister has donated Rs.3.2 million in CM Relief Fund. He said industrialist donated Rs.15 million to KKF on the appeal of chief MQM Altaf Hussain while SITE Limited, Sindh Small Industries, Directorate of Sindh and Sindh Government Press donated Rs.3.2 million to I&C Ministry. The minister said if those who survived from flood but drought are waiting them. He lauded the Saudia Arabia for aid and Pak Army work for rehabilitation of flood effectees. Rauf Siddiqui said there could be great catastrophe if immediate aid is not provided to the flood-stricken people.

He said the Ministry of Commerce and Industries had already sent 14 trucks of relief foods and cash to the flood-hit people, he informed.

Karachi (16-Aug-2010): (PRO SITE) Sindh Minister for Commerce and Industries Mohammad Rauf Siddiqui at meeting at his office here on Monday appealed philanthropists to provide full financial assistance to the flood affectees.

The philanthropists presented a cheque of Rs.10 million to Khidmat-e-Khaliq Foundation for flood affectees. Speaking on the occasion, Rauf Siddiqui said there could be great catastrophe if immediate aid is not provided to the flood-stricken people. The floods will inflict heavy losses to country economy, so we should help our brothers hit by the floods, he added.

Rauf Siddiqui said thousands of people are living under the open sky and are awaiting government aid. He said the Ministry of Commerce and Industries had already sent 12 trucks of relief foods and cash to the flood-hit people, he informed.

No one allow to use the name of influential political persons for land grabbing, Governor Sindh has already release the order to action against land grabbing in Sindh after the approval of Sindh Govt He said.

Addressing to the SITE Ltd Officials and Staff Mr. Rauf Sidddiqui instructed to concern officers to launch FIR against Land grabbers who are hurdles in Industrial development in province and they captured the huge land of SITE Karachi, Super High way, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sakkher, and other estates of SITE Ltd and land of Sindh Small Industries on the name of influential political persons. Stern action will take against the officers if they will found involve with land grabbers and they will terminate from the service with immediate action He said.

Mr. Rauf Sidddiqui said if one inch industrial land will transfer without NOC the concern Accounts and Administration Department will responsible for that and they will pay for that. SITE Ltd reduce Deficit from the dynamic efforts and more efforts should be taken for improvement of recovery of Dues on Different Govt and private Departments to reduce more Deficit, There will provide no subsidy for industrialists on water supply in future He said.

Karachi (30-June-2010): (PRO SITE) SITE Limited has been presented Annual Budget 2010-11 of Rs. 1,689.753 Million, Rs. 811.396 Millions have been allocated for the development and maintenance works. Development Budget would be utilized after the recommendation of the Chairmen of the concern Associations and Works Committee.

Budget Meeting was held under the chairing of Secretary Industries Sindh Mr. Ali Ahmad lund. MD SITE Ltd Abdul Rasheed Solangi, DMD SITE Mr. Ahmad Nawaz Jageerani, Secretary SITE Ltd Mr. Makhdoom Aqeel Uz Zaman, DMD Technical SITE Ltd Mr. Shams Sehtu, Director Finance SITE Ltd Mr. Moniz Qazi, Mr. Arshad Tanveer, Mr. Saleem Mosa Paraikh, Mr. Arshad Vohra, Mr. Abdullah Rafi, Mr. Mazhar ul Huq and other was also present. On that occasion MD SITE Ltd Abdul Rasheed Solangi told in his Budget Speech that income has been estimated to Rs.1368.834 Million in Annual Budget of 2010-11 whereas the expenditure has been estimated to Rs. 1689.753 Million hence the deficit of the proposed Budget is about Rs.320.919 million.

In comparison to the last year’s deficit of Rs.360.540 million, inspite of the 50% increase in the salaries by the Government. He said in financial Year 2009-10 the estimated income was Rs. 926.479 million whereas actual income received Rs. 753.696 million, The expenditure was 1221.976 million whereas the actual expenditure incurred was Rs.1114.236 million. MD SITE Ltd said.

Mr. Abdul Rasheed Solangi that the scheme for the construction of four combined effluent treatment plants in various Industrial areas of Karachi at the estimated cost of Rs. 7.6 billions out fo which, Two are be constructed in SITE Karachi that scheme has been cleared by technical committee. Planning and Development Department, Government of Sindh and will soon be cleared by PDWP of Planning and Development Department for further transmission to federal Government, for approval, as Honorable Supreme Court has taken this issue seriously.

He said DCO Larkana has identified 500 acres of forest land located at mohenjo Daro Air port Road at the distance of 15 Km from Larkana, accordingly a summary for the allotment of land has been sent to the CM for approval. PC-1 for the development of infrastructure amounting to Rs. 2404 million has also been sent to planning and development Department, Government of Sindh for approval and it is expected that the PC-1 would be approved from the competent forum and the work will start very soon. He requested to the Board of Directors to approve the revised Budget for the year 2009-10 and proposed Budget for the next financial Year 2010-11. Furthermore One excavator for SITE Karachi and One Fire Tender for SITE Super Highway has been proposed to be purchase.

In an statement he said that following the order of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Choudhry joint committee of SITE Ltd and Sindh Environmental Protection Agency(SEPA) was constituted for the inspection of proper discharge of Industrial solid waste and poisonous chemicals 15 Days ago, The committee has collected the samples, which has been sent to SEPA for require laboratory Test and judgment whether the effluent is dangerous or not, The report will submit in few days along with the list of defaulter Industrial units. Mr. Rauf Siddiqui Said stern action will take against defaulter Industrial units on the behalf of the committee’s Report. He said environmental pollution will not tolerate at any cost, Industrial units have to must install effluent treatment plants in their premises for environmental protection otherwise stern measures will take against them. Joint committee of SITE and SEPA for Environmental Protection.

Karachi (17-June-2010): (PRO SITE) Following the order of the chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry The Sindh Industrial Trading Estate Ltd (SITE) Constituted a Joint committee of SITE Ltd and Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) to visit Industrial points for inspection of discharging of Solid waste , dangerous and poisonous Chemicals. Joint committee will collect the samples and furnish to SEPA for conducting the required test whether the discharged effluent is dangerous of poisonous and submit report within 15 Days along with the list of defaulting Industrial Units for Taking further Necessary action. The Joint committee will comprise on Assistant Engineers (Environment) Mr. Hamid Ali Khan , Mr. Mahmood Hussain , Estate Engineer SITE Ltd Karachi Mr. Nedeem Akhtar and Estate Engineer B&R SITE Syed Shan ul Huq Haqqi. MD SITE Ltd Mr. Abdul Rasheed Solangi said SITE Limited issued Notice to all Industrial Units to install effluent Treatment Plants in their factories till 20 June otherwise their license will be cancel according to the bylaws we have taken stern measures for the implementation of the order of the chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry for the Environmental Protection. He said SITE Ltd. Manages to collect and dispose daily daily generated solid waste through available resources on regular basis to the designated land fill site, however to mate it more effective on permanent basis , SITE Ltd has invited tenders to outsource the collection and dispose of solid waste which has been principally approved by the Board of Directors of SITE Ltd and the work of outsourcing will be awarded to lowest bidder within 15 day furthermore 20 Garbage Dumping Points have been identified with the consultation of SITE Association of Industry which are being constructed and would be completed with in seven days from where the solid waste will be lifted by the outsourced company for the disposal to the landfill site.

Addressing to the officials and employees of SITE Ltd Mr. Rauf Siddiqui order to release promotions letters and prepare the New salaries of promoted employees as soon as possible. He Said that the authority of promotions has given to Board of Directors of SITE Ltd now, any employee and officer who will found involve to present fake degree or documents for the promotion, he will terminate from the job and FIR will launch against him, Supreme Court Pakistan has taken strong measures against fake degrees and I appreciate that measures, He said officials and employees should perform their duties honestly I will never let any iniquitousness with any employee, Yong Employees should complete their qualification in evening timings for promotion and increase their abilities according to the modern era challenges.

SITE issued notices to installation of effluent treatment Plants In Factories with in a month

Karachi (27-May-2010): (PRO SITE) In pursuance to the orders issued by the Honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Choudhry, Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE) Limited has initiated measure for immediate installation of the effluent treatment Plants on behalf of the stakeholders within the precincts of SITE Ltd. The stakeholders have been directed in this regard to complete the installation work with in a month.

Sindh commerce and industries minister Rauf Siddiqui has also taken serious notice of the industrial waste dumped in the open space around industries and has issued stern directives for the compliance to the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP).


In this regard, SITE Ltd has issued a notice to all the stakeholders wherein they have been warned of cancellation of the lease of their premises if they failed to implement the directives of the SCP.

It is pertinent to mention that the Honorable CJP has in his orders laid that the stakeholders should abide by the clause No. 10 of the sale deed made with SITE Ltd.

The clause read that

Not to allow any dangerous, poisonous or objectionable effluent or matter to be discharged into the drains of sewers, but to take all measures as may be necessary to ensure that any effluent of matter so discharged will not be corrosive otherwise harmful to drains or sewers cause obstruction or deposit herein.

Minister commerce and Industries Sindh Mr. Abdul Rauf Siddiqui presided meeting about SITE Ltd Hospital and Housing scheme projects in His Office. DMD Technical SITE Ltd Mr. Shams Ud din Sehtu, Chief Engineer SITE Ltd Mr. Abdul Waheed Sheikh, Consultant Manzoor Mehdi, Chief Medical officer SITE Ltd Saeeda Saleem and other Medical Officer were also present in the Meeting. Minister commerce and Industries Sindh Mr. Abdul Rauf Siddiqui give directives concern Engineers, Consultant and other officers to call a urgent meeting on that projects for proposals and complete final feasibility report on both of projects on urgent basis because completion of Modern Hospital and Housing Scheme projects are very valuable for me I will not allow to any officer to delaying on this. He said employees feel fear to loss their Residential and Medical facilities after the retirement but I want to protect them from that fear, employees should have protection of Residential and Medical facilities even after the retirement. Initial feasibility report about Hospital and Housing Scheme and other issues was also discussed in the meeting.

SITE wants govt to pay for Habib Bank flyover
The Habib Bank flyover project should be included in the Sindh Annual Development Plan (ADP) 2010-11, Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE) Limited Board of Directors said.

Karachi (18-May-2010): (Tribune) At a meeting on Monday they also proposed that chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah be given an update on the construction plans for the commercial complex project. The Planning Commission I form has been sent to the department for approval, with a request to include the project, which is worth Rs550 million, in the ADP 2010-11, said the directors. They who were of the belief that the “financially beneficial” project should be approved and its paperwork completed as soon as possible.

The board also agreed to design a plan for the maintenance of the industrial area and a system to dispose of industrial waste after being issued tenders to maintain the cleanliness of the area. They asked that a report be presented at their next meeting with calculations of expenses for the sanitation work. Sindh secretary of commerce and industry Ali Ahmed Lund presided over the BoD meeting on Monday, where DMD Technical SITE Shamsuddin Sahto and Arshad Tanveer were asked to join the committee overlooking the construction project.

The directors also congratulated Abdul Raheed Solangi for taking charge as the SITE MD. The meeting was attended by SITE secretary Makhdoom Aqeeluzaman, SITE finance director Muneez Qazi, SITE Association chairman Salim Moosa Parekh, Arshad Waher, Sui Southern Gas Company representative Siraj Qasim Teli and members of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board. Jinnah hospital flyover The Jinnah hospital flyover will be opened for traffic in 15 days as carpeting on the road has begun, announced city administrator Lala Fazlur Rehman.

He visited the flyover projects underway at Jinnah hospital and Mehmoodabad on Sunday evening. Girders have been placed at the Jinnah hospital flyover while the placement work on the Mehmoodabad flyover has started and is expected to be completed in one week. Rehman also visited the flyover at Tipu Sultan Road, where an alternate road has been built and six pipes have been laid for storm water drains.

The administrator was informed that 80 per cent of the piling and girders work has been completed so the project will be finished soon. Later, Rehman visited the Manzoor Colony nullah and directed EDO works and services to start cleaning it immediately. Small drains can be cleaned manually while larger ones can be cleaned with the help of machines, said Rehman.

The Board agreed the concept in principle a proper plan be prepared and the cost to be incurred on outsourcing of solid wastes be worked out and submitted to the Board for approval. Karachi (08-Apr-2010): (PRO SITE) SITE Limited denies the allegation leveled in a news published in a daily newspaper .In an statement by the DMD Site limited Mr, Nawaz Ahmad Jageerani said that Site limited as an organization established for promotion of the industrialization in the province of  Sindh and the country as well and for this purpose allotments are made to interested parties industrialist in all industrial estates of SITE Ltd ,He said all allotments made site Karachi ,super highway or any other estates were in accordance usual terms and conditions and completion of all the formalities and transparent way at the prevalent rate of premium decided by the Board of Directors is charged from allot tees of the plots and in this regard no favor is given to allot tee.

The News regarding allotment of plot in the nallah bearing NO 5, It is clarified that the land was already in possession of the party since long where industry was already functioning and the same was regularized in favor of the party he said.

Mr. Nawaz Jageerani said in possession on charging the fees of Rs 7.50 Million strictly in accordance with the policy of regularization framed by the Board of Directors of SITE Ltd.

He said SITE Limited is an organization which is run on no profit no loss basis and it has to generate its own revenue from allotment of land, sub division, amalgamation, which is solely used for the development of Industrial Estate of SITE Ltd.

Mr, Nawaz Jageerani said as referred in the news publication that the land was allotted at normal rate of Rs 30,000 per acre, this organization clearly refute it and actual fact is that the allotments have been made at prevalent rate of premium fixed by the Board of Directors.

Industrial waste filters to be set up soon: M.A. Rauf

Karachi (3 April 2010) : (TFD) Sindh Minister for Commerce and industry Rauf Siddiqui on Friday said that directives of the Chief Justice High Court for installation of treatment plants in industrial units would cast positive effects on environment.

In a statement issued here on Friday, the minister said that his department has informed police officials about illegal cutting of the roads in industrial areas, illegal water connections, and grabbing on Industrial land.

He said that SITE Limited has recovered Rs 50 million during last month. He asked the department officers to discharge their duties with honesty.

Rauf Siddiqui asked the security officers of SITE Limited to bring their job slips and cards with them while discharging duties in industrial areas.

Garbage in SITE being removed on SC orders

Karachi (15 Mar 2010): (IT) About 1,000 tonnes of garbage will be removed during a cleanliness campaign launched on the orders of the Supreme Court in the Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate, said the managing director of SITE Ltd at a briefing on Monday.

He said initially 15 dumpers and other machinery were being used for the purpose. He said the organization was using all resources to comply with the SC order. He, however, added that under the law, the factory-owners themselves were responsible for the disposal of the waste.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Industries Minister Rauf Siddiqui directed officials that waste be effectively disposed of and warned that no carelessness in this regard would be tolerated.

REMOVAL OF SOLID WASTE FROM SITE'S LIMIT KARACHI

Karachi (Mar 15, 2010): (IT) In pursuance of the meeting held on 12.3.2010 under the chairmanship of Minister Environment and  Alternate Energy regarding implementation of the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan to dispose off the solid waste dumped in the SITE Area within a week, it is informed that in compliance of decision taken in the meeting 16 dumpers and 3 shovels along with leveling  instruments like tractor blades have been engaged and started the work today on 13.3.2010 along with the South Avenue, Manghopir Road, and Bawany Challi area. Each dumper has been assigned from trips of garbage to be lifted from SITE Area from SITE Area to CDGK landfill at Gond Pass.

The work of disposal of the solid waste is in progress and will continue till its complete removal from existing dumping places.

Site Limited officials, staff take oath not to indulge in corruption

   KARACHI (March 13 2010): The officers and staff of Site Ltd on Friday pledged on oath that they would not indulge in corruption and cause harm to their organisation. Sindh Minister for Industries, Rauf Siddiqi took oath at a special ceremony held at Site Ltd, which was attended by officials from top level to staff up to lowest level.

The purpose of taking oath was to save the organisation from falling credibility, save it from corruption and lead to progress. Speaking on the occasion Rauf Siddiqi made it clear that purpose of taking oath was not that Site Ltd is a most corrupt organisation, but the fact is that a industrial revolution in Sindh and Pakistan, and their prosperity has nexus with this organisation and therefore, all the employees must have the comprehension about it.

He said if that would work with sincerity, while ridding Site Ltd from corruption, this organisation can be saved from sinking. He said today's oath taking ceremony will prove a milestone for other Pakistani organisations and if all of them commit themselves to strengthen their respective organisations, then Pakistan would soon become a prosperous country.

Rauf Siddiqi told the employees that as and when their organisation will progress, their salaries and other benefits would also rise. He requested the media that since it was an appreciative initiative, they should portray it in a positive manner. He referred to SC order for removal of industrial waste from Site area and said he consider it an order from the Chief Justice for him and salute him for this.

He said the Chief Justice has given one-week time for removal of industrial waste, but he gives three days to all concerned for accomplishment of this task. In an interview to the Daily Express Karachi Mr, Manzoor Ahmad Kanasro Said That Site Ltd started to recovers their  Dues from Industries according to the instructions of Honorable Minister of commerce and Industries Sindh Mr, Rauf Siddiqui. MD said that Site Ltd issue notices to the tenant of Site to recovers dues around 10 Crore Rupees , Japan base company EMCO will invest for the install power project in supper highway industrial zone phase 2, 50 megavolt power will install in system after the completion of that project, fisibility of the project will prepare soon, Development of infrustucture ,improvement of water supply and project of efuluent treatment plant is in underway which will complete soon. He said that concern authorities are looking to increase 25 percent of Site,s Dues on industries but that decision will finalize after the concernig of all istake holders . MD said that construction of flyover at Site Chowrange is on pending due to shortage of funds, we have approche to the provincial Government in this matter and requested to increase annual Development Budget.

Rauf Siddiqui orders for eradicating illegal water connections in SITE area

     Karachi (12 Feb 2010): (Staff Reporter) Sindh Minister for Commerce and Industries, Rauf Siddiqui on Tuesday ordered to sever the illegal water connections in SITE area and asked the officials to lodge the FIR against the people who are intervening in the matter. He was presiding over a high level meeting at the SITE Limited that was attended by the senior officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board. The KWSB officials assured the minister that water would be smoothly supplied to the Industrial area without any hindrance or interruption. The minister further ordered to cancel the permission letters to store underground water and repair the leaking water lines that often led to the wastage of thousand gallons of water. He said that the continuous supply of water would further boost the industrial development. He warned that nobody can escape from legal action in case of negligence while performing their duties.

Water projects for Nooriabad, Hyderabad industrial estates to complete in three months, says M.A. Rauf

Karachi (21 November 2009) : (MO) Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Muhammad Rauf Siddiqui has said that installation of filter plants for water supply in SITE Hyderabad and from Kenjhar Lake to SITE Nooriabad worth Rs1.2 billion would be completed in three months.

This he said while addressing a press conference at his office on Saturday. He said project of installation of drainage system and filter plants in industrial area of Nawabshah worth Rs.253.67 million would also be completed by December. He further apprised that works for improving infrastructure, drainage system and water supply which was started in five estates of SITE Limited including Karachi, Nooriabad, Kotri, Hyderabad and Sukkur is likely to be completed in three months. The project costs Rs.499.7million.
   
Minister said that Artisan Colony would also be established in Mithi and 100 expert artisans of the area would be provided financial assistance to run their vocation, effectively. Rauf Siddiui further said that new industrial estate is being established in district Khairpur in collaboration with Kuwati investors to set up 'date processing plants'. He said this project would help to produce good quality dates and providing employment to local people. He suggested all industrialists to run cleanliness campaign in their respective industrial zones to improve the environment, adding the condition of obtaining NOC in this regard has already been withdrawn. 

Minister directs industrialists to pay Site Limited dues

Karachi (November 19 2009) : Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce, Rauf Siddiqui has warned industrialists to pay Site Ltd dues otherwise NOC for industrial units transfer letters and new connection of utilities such as power and gas would not be issued.

Talking to newsmen after meeting with Site Association of Industry (SAI) on Wednesday, he said, that Site Ltd have been facing serious financial problems and these problems may have negative impact on the ongoing development work in Site industrial area, Site Super Highway and Korti industrial areas.

He said that around Rs 600 million are due from industrialists of Site industrial area and added that if Site Ltd gets these dues it would continue its development work smoothly. He said that it is also under consideration that Site Ltd should abolish subsiding water supply provided to site industrial area to ease its financial crises.

Speaking at the meeting he was of the view that the industrialists are not interested to get their problems resolved. He stressed that they must start taking interest to get their problems resolved. He advised industrialists to make efforts to remove encroachment in their areas.

He said that laying a bigger pipeline needs around Rs one arab and hoped that its PC-1 would be prepared soon. Chairman, Site Association, Saleem Parikh said that industries are facing serious water shortage which ultimately has negative impact on production.

SITE asked to focus on infrastructure development

Karachi (19 November 2009) : Rauf Siddiqui, Minister for Commerce & Industry has asked SITE Ltd to chalk out a plan for the infrastructure development of SITE industrial area forthwith.

He said on Wednesday in a meeting with industrialists of SITE area at the office of SITE Association of Industry. He said SITE industrial zone has been playing important role and giving considerable revenue to the national exchequers but its dwindling infrastructure is poor when compared with other industrial zones in the city.

The minister said he himself is taking keen interest in uplifting the SITE area, calling daily meetings, passing tenders, issuing orders to carry out the works on immediate basis and contracts signed for 14 streets, and industrialists will see the progress themselves in the area. He said patch work of the roads is in full sewing, drains and streets are being cleaned and the reports are being posted to the SITE Association on daily basis.

He said he had passed a order for uplifting work or beautification of the area in front of industries. The industrialists are free to beautify their area as they long to maintain the healthy environment. He said he had planed even to lay cemented drain pipes in place of old natural nullah to convert it into covered drain system like other countries but “we have limited funds in SITE area.”

He urged the industrialists to make the drain system successful in front of their factories, to remove the constructions made over the drains themselves for proper cleaning of drains on periodical basis.

He also advised the industrialists to pay the bills of SITE Ltd, and not to bring the courts in between as this practice is not right and it is putting the SITE Ltd in deficit. He said Rs30-35 million are outstanding in shape of water bills of KW&SB.

Body formed to resolve SITE issues

   Karachi (November 01, 2009): (The News) A coordination committee has been constituted comprising representatives of Sindh Industrial Estate Limited and SITE Association Karachi for the improvement of infrastructure coordination between Site and Site Association, development and provision of more facilities to the tenants of Site Ltd.

The committee will compromise of Zubair Motiwala, Sikandar Imrani, Tariq Yousuf Naseem Umar, Muhammad Ahsan and officials of SITE Limited. These members will ensure regular meetings of the committee on a monthly basis.

It was also decided to establish a committee to resolve the shortage of water in industries and other issues concerning the water supply and dues. Managing Director Site Ltd has said that problems related to the improvement of infrastructure will be resolved on priority basis. Serious measures will be taken for the cleaning, better sanitation, and especially for cleaning nullah’s in the jurisdiction of SITE Ltd.

A joint session of the representatives of both SITE and SITE Association officials was held in the SITE Association Office.

Temporary staff of Site AND small industries regularised: M.A. Rauf SIDDIQUI

    KARACHI (May 26 2009): Sindh Government has regularised all the daily-wage earners and contract employees of SITE Ltd and Sindh Small Industries Corporation. This was stated by Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Rauf Siddiqui while addressing a crowded press conference over one-year performance of his department at his office here on Monday.

He also announced to donate his one-month salary to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), besides one-day salary of all employees of Industries and Commerce Department for this purpose. Rauf said he had arranged a meeting of industrialists with Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Interior Minister Rehman Malik, which discussed proposals for establishment of separate police stations and police force for industrial zones.

He said that two police station had been set up at Site Ltd while many more would be set up in other industrial zones shortly. The construction of security wall at Site Superhighway Phase-II is also in progress. The President and the Prime Minister have also been requested to declare 10-year tax holiday for interior Sindh besides allowing industrialists to install their own power plants in order to attract investment, he added.

Minister said to provide best services and infrastructure, four public private partnership companies were formed for Landhi, Korangi, North Karachi, and F.B Area industrial zone. Govt will extend this cooperation for the interior Sindh industrial zones. Senator, Haseeb Khan and, Rehan Zishan also spoke on the occasion. Artisan Workshops and Artisan Residential Quarters at Mithi will boost Handicrafts industry of Sindh, M.A. Rauf Siddiqui

  Karachi 21-Apr-2009 : (MO) Ministry of Industries & Commerce has been constructing small estate of 50 acre, worth of 23 million to promote the local Sindhi handicraft industries and encourage the artisans.” said Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce, M.A. Rauf Siddiqui on the occasion of stone laying ceremony of Artesian Colony and Workshops at Mithi, Sindh. He added, “Artisan Workshops and Artisan Residential Quarters will promote the immense potential existing in Thar particularly the Handicraft Industry of Sindh. Minister said that particularly for the uplift of Handicrafts industry in Thar, a residential colony of 100 quarters would also be constructed. Besides quarters, hospital, schools and dispensary, total worth of 133 million would also be constructed and the project would be completed by 2010.

He gave emphasis that Artisan Workshops and Colony would boost the handicraft industry of Sindh, which would help to eradicate poverty and providing employment opportunities to the locals. Rauf Siddiqui mentioned that to support Sindh’s Craft as well as to provide employment opportunities in Thar, two schemes for the Artisans of Thar, 100 Artisan Workshops, display center and convention center at Mithi are being constructed.

Industrialization to root out unemployment from Interior Sindh, Rauf Siddiqui

Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce M.A. Rauf Siddiqi has said that massive industrialization could root out unemployment from Sindh and the Govt is committed to enhance the standards and facilitate the industrialists in the industrial zones. He was speaking on the occasion of stone laying ceremony for the construction of 5.0 MGD filter plant for SITE Hyderabad.  The filter plant would fulfill a long standing demand of the industrialists for availability of clean water for industrial use.

Speaking on the occasion he said that the industrial estate has suffered for almost half century as the water available to the industries was hard and could not be used in many industrial processes. He paid tribute to the industrialists who showed patience and kept the industries running despite this drawback. "If they can operate with handicaps like this then they are likely to perform miracles when all modern industrial facilities are made available to them" the minister said.

He said Pakistan needs determination and spirit with which the industrialists of SITE Hyderabad operated for nearly 50 years. He acknowledged that water is one of the basic necessities in industrial processes. He said to obtain best result it is essential that the quality of water used by the industries has to be of reasonably good quality. He hoped that after the commissioning of filter plant the industrial production would get a boost. He said that SITE Ltd has been instructed to bring the standards of Industrial estates in Sindh at par with international standards as the infrastructure attracts and motivates the investors.

He informed the business community that federal government is likely to announce 10 years tax holiday for setting up agro based industry in interior of Sindh. He said that the government is also going to allow private sector to setup power units up to 200 MW instead of 50 MW. He said that water supply scheme from Kanjar Lake to Nooriabad will be competed in next seven months. He advised business community to establish industrial units in Nooriabad. Referring to law and order, Rauf Siddiqui said that a plan has been made to construct boundary walls around all industrial estates.The minister said that 90 per cent work on boundary walls around Super Highway Industrial Estates has been completed. Later the minister had a detailed discussion with the leading industrialists of SITE Hyderabad. He told them that the present government is fully aware of the economic situation of the country. He said the steps taken by government both at federal and provincial levels have stopped the economic decline. In fact he added some vital indicators like inflation have shown some improvement. The imports he added are on decline and the interest rates hike has stopped. He said the interest rates would come down as inflation further eases.

He told them that Sindh government is fully committed to facilitate industrialization in the province. He asked the entrepreneurs to have faith in the democratically elected government and upgrade their industries through fresh investment. He said the Sindh government has shown its confidence in the businessmen by acquiring 300 acres additional area for the SITE Hyderabad. The industrialists thanked the minister for the filter plant and assured him of their full cooperation in his bid to revive the industries in the province. SITE Hyderabad was established in 1950 and is spread over 1264 acres. It has 456 industrial units that include Industries of refrigeration, Rice, pharmaceuticals, Textile, flour , Glass manufacturing and bangle industries, This industrial estate has been developed on the same pattern as Karachi Estate. Since the establishments of SITE Hyderabad, the industries were getting raw water and it was the demand of the industrialists for supply of filtered water, after about 60 years, the demand of the industrialists is being fulfilled. The filter plant would also ensure supply of clean drinking water for the adjoining labor colonies of SITE Hyderabad.

Govt committed to improve the culture of book, Rauf Siddiqui

   Karachi 11-Apr-2009 : (MO) Sindh Minister for Industry and Commerce Abdul Rauf Siddiqui has expressed his commitment to improve the culture of book reading and said that learning to read for a variety of purposes is essential to success in all ages. In all aspects of life, solid reading skills are necessary for success. Siddiqui was speaking on Saturday as a Chief Guest at ICMAP book fair.

He admired the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) to organize this successful book fair. He said "Institute has been serving the corporate community for the last 58 years. It has been offering professional management accountancy education through formal continuing professional development by serving student community throughout Pakistan in 14 important cities of Pakistan".

He said Cost and Management Accountants play a unique role. They help to increase productivity, avoid wastages, rationalize cost structures, help in adding or dropping products or market outlets, machines and money. Govt is committed to revive handicraft industry, Rauf Siddiqui

   Karachi 9-Apr-2009 : (MO) "Government is committed to revive handicraft industry in Sindh, construction of small estate of 50 acre at Mithi, to promote the local Sindhi handicraft industries and encourage the artisans is being completed." Minister for Industries and Commerce, Rauf Siddiqui expressed these views while talking to a delegation of handicraft industry. Rauf Siddiqui mentioned that to support Sindh's Craft as well as to provide employment opportunities in Thar, two schemes for the Artisans of Thar, 100 Artisan Workshops, display center and convention center at Mithi are being constructed. He said that SITE Ltd has been instructed to bring the standards of Industrial estates in Sindh at par with international standards as the infrastructure attracts and motivates the investors which ultimately will harness the potential of handicraft industry. Music industry can play a vital role for painting a soft image of Pakistan across the world.

 He said music is a source of aesthetic feelings which makes you more alive. Circle of Trust, comprising of the singer and composer, Sheeraz Ahmed and his brother Maaz Ahmed has produced a good music album which will please the younger generation and music lovers. The minister said that music industry is a fast growing industry in Pakistan and more and more opportunities are being created due to a large number of media channels and FM Radios. He wished his best for the success of the band to introduce matchless trend in music industry. Jordanian Ambassador meets Rauf Siddiqi

   Karachi 09-Mar-09 : (Geo) The Jordanian Ambassador in Pakistan DeSaleh Al-Jawarikh met Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Rauf Siddiqi at his office here on Monday along with Consul General Farrukh Qaiser. On the occasion, the Jordanian diplomat complimented the Minister for his book on History of Kaaba. The Minister informed the Ambassador that he is carrying out a one window operation whereby land will be provided to national and foreign investors in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah and Khairpur for establishment of agro-based industries including dairy farms, dates production etc.

He said the investors making investment in this sector would have10- year tax exemption. He urged the Ambassador to pursue the Jordanian investors for investing in Pakistan. Dr. Saleh assured the Minister of his all out cooperation in this respect. The Minister thanked for an invitation extended to him for a visit to Jordan and said Pakistanis have great respect in their hearts for the Hashemite Government and King Abdullah.

Karachi 29-Jan-2009 : (MO) "Govt is striving hard to provide modern infrastructure and facilities to industrialists and Water supply project to SITE Nooriabad is a solid example of this commitment". This was stated by the Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce while speaking after the stone laying ceremony of Rs1064.133 million Water supply pipeline project that would bring water from Keenjhar lake to SITE Nooriabad.He said Govt is working in Interior Sindh to promote industrialization and is providing state of the art infrastructure, ten years tax exemption and allotment of industrial plots on easy installment to industrialists so that they can contribute to growth of the province and country.He instructed to establish a three member team, consisting on industrialists, to monitor the progress of the project and reporting to the minister. He appreciated the efforts of Mr. Ali Ahmed, Secretary Industries, Mr. Asif Marghoob Siddiqui, Managing Director S.I.T.E, Shams-Uddin Sehto, Chief Engineer, for this project and instructed to take all measures to complete the two years project within eight months. He said the best way to eradicate poverty is to create jobs by bringing in investment which is only possible if we can provide the facilities of global standard in our industrial estates. The minister said that the importance of the availability of water in the industrial processes can not be underscored. We may have sufficient power, energy and road network but the entire industrial process would come to halt if clean water is not provided to the industries, he added. The minister regretted that industrialization potential of the province has not been fully exploited. "Sindh could become the hub of export oriented industries if the bottlenecks impeding the industrialization are removed" he added. He warned Govt officers who delay the process and advised them to work diligently. Provincial industries minister said that seeing a vacant industrial plot or a sick non-operative industrial unit always hurt as it means loss of countless job opportunities that could be created utilizing the plant. He said the Sindh government is fully committed to ensure that all the industrial estates in this province operate to their full capacity. The Minister assured the businessmen that government is fully aware of the bottlenecks that are impeding productivity. He said that both provincial and the federal government are making coordinated efforts to remove all difficulties in this regard. Industries and Commerce Minister said that the provincial government has embarked on revamping the infrastructure in all industrial estates. The allocation of funds in this regard has been generous, he added. Mr. M. Asif Marghoob Siddiqui, MD S.I.T.E said on the occasion that, Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce, Rauf Siddiqui has a mission to industrialize the province on international standard. He said that reading habit is creativity that is "Food For Thought", because the knowledge & information acquired through reading is longer-lasting & is retained / captured in the brain.

Though the Information Technology has provided updated knowledge on all subjects through internet, it is no substitute for the knowledge acquired from constant reading. Reading, he added, has more lasting impact on human mind than internet browsing.

He praised the organizers for arranging the book fair for the fourth running year. He also appreciated the wide range of books being displayed on various subjects that include Art, Culture & heritage, music & drama, Finance & economics, Sports, Science, politics, etc- aided by CD's / Videos.

Later the minister visited the various stalls in the fair and was impressed by the keen interest shown by students and people from all walks of life in book fairs. Official website of Sindh industrial estates has been launched its link website www.site.com.pk. Basic aim and objective to launch web site is to functionalize IT Department of  SITE Limited and provide as much as facilities to Industrialists by the Directives to of Minister commerce and industries Sindh Mr. Rauf Siddiqui. Further programmers of IT Infrastructure are going to implement.

Inaugurating the web site, he said that it contains information about industrial lands with information regarding cost factor, layout/position, land availability etc.

Interior sindh: Zardari agrees to exempt industrial areas from taxes, says Rauf.

   KARACHI (November 25 2008): Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce, M. A. Rauf Siddiqui has informed business community that President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has formally agreed to exempt industrial areas of interior sindh including Hyderabad from taxes for 10 years.

He assured business community that the government would issue arm license to them for their security. Rauf Siddiqui said that the Government would construct boundary wall around the site of Superhighway Industrial Area for safety and security of investors, workers and industrialists.

He urged industrial and trade estates to utilize the funds allocated for industrial estates infrastructure development and upgradation. The minister said that PC-1 of Federal B Industrial Area infrastructure development plan has been approved.

   Karachi (June 07 2008): Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce, Abdul Rauf Siddiqui has said that the government will allocate 100 acres each, land for developing Agro based industries, in Hyderabad Sukkur, and Nawab Shah. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) annual exhibition 'My Karachi-Oasis of Harmony' here on Friday. He said that the government has decided to exempt industries, establish in these industrial estates, from all provincial taxes for ten years. The minister said that the provincial government would also approach the federal government to exempt these industrial estates from federal taxes for ten year.

Japanese firm to invest $ 100m in IT sector

   Karachi: Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Rauf Siddiqui has said that a Japanese Company is going to invest 100 millions dollar in IT sector in Pakistan that would create job opportunities for over 3000 IT experts. The company would also setup school to teach Japanese language to thousands of people, he said adding that it would establish a most modern date storage center for its clients the world over besides a call center with a capacity of one thousand people.

He hopped that the Japanese company would also make investment in Sindh Province. The minister said that the investor of Pakistani community living all over the world should invest in Pakistan encouraging the other local investor.

He added that the small industries will be established in Hala to facilitate masses and for that purpose budget has been allocated. M.A Rauf Says: Industrial Zone to be set up interior Sindh.

   Karachi: Provincial Minister for Commerce and Industries Rauf Siddiqui has said that industrial zones would be set up in interior Sindh soon. Talking during an interview to a local radio station, the Minister said that efforts were underway to establish cottage industry in Hala and other parts of Sindh.

“A project to supply water to Nooriabad from Keenjhar Lake is also being discussed. Plots have been allocated in industrial zones to establish industries”, he said. Rauf Siddiqui said lucrative incentives were being provided to local and foreign investors in Karachi so as to avert economic crisis.

He stressed the need to improve law and order and provide incentives to the business community so that shifting of this money could be halted. He also called on the federal and provincial governments to consult local industrialists in evolving state industrial policy to win their hearts.

He said that Karachi, a largest city in Pakistan and seventh largest across the world, is generating 60 percent of total revenue of the country. He said that having a developed infrastructure, Karachi is drawing attention of foreigner investors. He said that basic infrastructure changes have been introduced in Karachi in order to develop the country and provide more facilities to masses.

Rauf Siddiqui also called for improving law and order in Karachi so as to attract foreign capital and create a peaceful environment for industrialization.

            Karachi: Sindh Commerce and industry Minister Muhammad Rauf Siddiqui has ordered suspension of any further inspection of industries until the Government proposes a new policy in that regard. Talking to industrialists at the office of SITE Association of industrial zones all over the world enjoyed basic facilities but we are not providing such faculties to our industrialists. Though we have funds for development, we fail to set priorities to make of them. we can solve our problems with the guidelines of industrialists as we know that these challenges will make us stronger in moving forward and achieving new goals SITE Association patron-in-chief Siraj Kassam Teli said the minister's efforts to facilitate industrialists should be seen in practical terms so that new industries could come up with the help of a new complaint centre. The minister replied that industrialists would find all necessary facilities that were required for-setting up a new factory at the new complaint centre at SITE which would cater to all the needs and demands of industrialists. SITE Association of Industry Chairman Nisar Shekhani said the Government's decision to raise minimum salary to Rs6,000"is right and we would comply with it but the contribution to Employees old -age Benefit institution (EOBI) and sindh employees social security institute (SESSI) funds shold be capped at the current levels. Renowned industrialist Zubair Motiwala urged the minister to look into the decreasing rate of return on capital and demanded the government cut 35 per cent L/C margin for raw material import by the industry.

Advisory council for industry formed

KARACHI, Oct 14: A 25-Members Advisory Council for Trade and Industry comprising presidents of all chambers of commerce and industry of the province and leading trade associations was formed on Tuesday at a meeting of top business leaders in the office of Sindh Industries Minister Abdul Rauf Siddiqui.

The meeting expressed its concern over the rise in electricity tariff and urged for quick resolution of the power crisis which could cause closure of many factories. It also decided to form a delegation that would meet President and Prime Minister to seek redressal of the grievances of businessmen in Sindh.

Infrastructure uplift: Rs 750 million funds for three industrial estates may lapse: Rauf
 

KARACHI (October 29 2008): sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce, M.A. Rauf Siddiqui has feared that Rs 750 million allocated for infrastructure development of three industrial estates of the city may lapse in one month.

Speaking at a meeting of Federal 'B' Area Association of Trade and Industry (FBAATI) on Tuesday, he said that the government has allocated Rs 250 million each for four industrial estate management companies namely Korangi Industrial Trading Estate (KITE), Landhi Industrial Trading Estate (Lite), North Karachi Industrial Trading Estate (NITE) and Federal 'B' Area Industrial Trading Estate (FITE).

He advised the management of these companies to take guidance from Kite and prepare infrastructure development PC-1 as well as get it approved from him as soon as possible. Dispelling impression that the funds allocated for industrial infrastructure development has been freeze, he said that the amount is with the management companies and they can utilize it within next one month.

He said that the management companies have very short time and they must act fast to develop infrastructure in their respective areas. He assured the industrialists that the government is ready to provide maximum facilities for development work in industrial areas.
